Structure

Located near the middle of the back, one on either side of the spine

Bean-shaped, about the size of a fist.

Consist of an outer cortex, inner medulla and pelvis
Function
-
Filter blood as passes through them removing any waste products to produce urine
-
Release hormones that control blood pressure
-
Maintain fluid balance in the body
